Silver Street Car Park -Fraudulent Parking Notices |
||
|
The Chalford Parish Council and Gloucestershire Constabulary have been made aware of an ongoing issue regarding fake parking notices being placed on specific vehicles in the Silver Street Car Park.
This car park is owned and managed by the Chalford Parish Council. This car park is not strictly for use of residents who live on Silver Street. It is not owned by the residents. This car park is open to everyone. Despite this, one owner of a vehicle parked in the Silver Street car park, has been targeted with false penalty notices. This owner is a resident within the near vicinity of the car park.
As per Section 2 of the Fraud Act 2006, it appears that the person(s) making these false notices are committing the offence of Fraud by False Representation. This means the person has been dishonest by false representation to gain for themselves or another, or to cause loss to another or expose them to a risk of loss. No loss needs to have been made for this offence to be committed. The maximum sentence for this offence is 10 years imprisonment.
It has been explained to us that a false Police Penalty Notice was placed on the vehicle, as well as a false Chalford Parish Council notice. This must stop immediately. Not only is the above offence being committed, but a further offence of harassment. Please report any further issues to the Chalford Parish Council, or if the parking notices are to continue, further investigation will be done and consequences will be issued.
Please contact myself with any relevant information regarding this issue.
